| Welcome to the home of WeSay.
A WeSay is something that you can’t wait to tell someone else. A point of genuine interest about business, especially PR or marketing. It could be what you saw on TV last night, an amazing fact, the theme of an article, a useful website, a tip, an observation, your view of a news story, your own good idea, an example of best practice, comments on a PR stunt and how successful it was. Anything, as long as it’s worthy of being called a WeSay.

MOBILE MARKETING
Aimee says - "According to the CIM, 68% of marketers are not using mobile marketing, despite the fact that globally there is twice as many mobile phones than computers. When drawing up your next marketing plan, consider this; mobile phones are the only medium that is in your home, at your work, in the street and in your pocket."

ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND PRINTING
Jenni says - "Many recycled papers are now of equal quality and equivalent price as non-recycled papers, so there should be no more excuses for not using it. More information on recycled paper and environmentally sound printing can be found at http://www.ppe.uk.net/"

WHO'S VIEWING YOUR PROFILE?
Richard says - "Client facing employees that build profiles of their private lives on social media pages such as MySpace and Facebook can have a negative effect on their professional image, affecting the brand perception of the company they work for. Along the same lines, employers are increasingly searching social media sites to read the profiles of potential new recruits. Does your social media profile reinforce or weaken your employment prospects?"

READ OUT LOUD
Caroline says - I recently discovered a fun and useful feature in Acrobat Reader (the software you use to view pdf files). It’s called "Read Out Loud" and that’s exactly what it does, it reads the document you have open out loud. Look under the menu heading ‘View’ for ‘Read Out Loud’, it’s great if you get fed up hearing the sound of your own voice.

MEDIA REPORTING ON MEDIA
Ali says- "The BBC are in hot water at the moment because they re-edited a piece of footage to show the Queen storming out of a photo shoot - I'll hold opinion on who spins the media these days for another WeSay, however what this underlined for me was an increasing trend in the media for not taking responsibility for their news output. Most of the national press were left embarrassed the following day, because they covered the story based on the BBC's news reports which aired before the mistake was noticed.
How often do we see this in the media; radio bulletins starting with the phrase 'a report in today's Sun claims .'. This is another sign of editorial budgets being cut and news gatherers seeking to save resources by taking news from another media's agenda. That's not proper journalism and it's a dangerous trend. When things go wrong the media involved take no responsibility for its output. For the BBC, whose remit is to deliver impartial news, the recent mistakes not only earned them a nasty backlash from their print media friends, but also underlined that this brief is plunging into murky grey areas."

CHILDISH PR STUNT
Naomi says- "I heard a story about a hotel in Australia that has used an innovative PR campaign to communicate its new conference facilities. The hotel invited children from 200 schools to organise and attend their own conference on the future of the planet. All costs were covered by the hotel, a worthwhile investment as the stunt received national broadcast coverage worth AU$7million."

BIG BRANDS USE YOU TUBE
Claire says- "Have you heard how big brands have been using You Tube to promote themselves at very low cost to an international audience? The list includes Coca-Cola, mentos, Sony Bravia and Blendtec. For examples of what these brands are doing search You Tube for Experiment 214 or 'Will it Blend?'."

HOTELS IN SECOND LIFE
Caroline says - "I was interested to hear Starwood Hotels is using Second Life, the internet virtual world, to test new properties before they even begin building them. They ask Second Life residents to walk through the hotels and review them; I think there are many ways the meetings industry could be making more use of technology like this."

SOCIAL NETWORK PROS AND CONS
Amy says - "According to recent research conducted by Tamar, negative comments about a brand posted on social networks or websites, such as MySpace or Facebook, will put off one in two potential customers.
While 60 per cent of consumers are willing to interact with brands on social networks, 52 per cent are put off by negative comments posted on forums and social networks. 59 per cent of men say their purchase decision would be affected, compared to 47 per cent of women."
